
Liya Akhedzhakova
Biography
Liya M. Akhedzhakova (born July 9, 1938, Dnepropetrovsk, Ukrainian SSR) is a Russian theatre and cinema actress. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1970) and People's Artist of Russia (1994). She became famous for her roles in Eldar Ryazanov's films, especially "Office Romance" (1977), "Garage" (1979), "Irony of Fate" (1975) and "Promised Heaven" (1991). She twice received the Nika Award for Best Supporting Actress for her roles as Aunt Fima in "Promised Heaven" and a Japanese restaurant worker in "Portraying the Victim" in 1992 and 2007, respectively.
